Plant fruit and vegetable row gardens and a variety of trees for sustainable crop farming
Uganda’s soil is fertile and can nourish a wide variety of crops and trees. A garden filled with vegetables such as cassava root, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, watermelon, cantaloupe, beans, sweet corn, millet, sunflowers and sesame would provide not only food for consumption, but also a valuable source of revenue. Filda has studied Farming God’s Way and other proven farming methods and is prepared to plant each of these crops with care, utilizing available animal products for fertilizer and placing symbiotic plants near each other.
The land already has a variety of productive trees, such as figs, lemons, oranges, jack fruit, avocados, mangos, bananas and matoke. We need to plant more trees to provide an income source as well as life-sustaining crops for the villagers.
UPDATE: All 100 acres are being cleared, projected completion is mid-October. First harvesting of corn, tomatoes and peppers complete. We harvested 2000 kg of corn and are currently working to fulfill contracts with a Gulu factory to provide them with corn and sunflower in return for funds to sustain the villagers and the village project.
